To the Editor—We read with great interest the results of the National Healthcare Safety Network survey evaluating the countrywide implementation of the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) antimicrobial stewardship core elements [1]. As the United States’ largest not-for-profit healthcare system with 141 hospitals and serving 24 states, Ascension answered the call for commitment to the White House report on Combating Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria (CARB) [2] and pledged to align with the CARB goals 1 and 2. We established facility-based antimicrobial stewardship programs (ASPs) and incorporated the CDC core elements at all Ascension hospitals.
